Easy Jet flights started

Pristina, 19 June - The low cost carrier, EasyJet around 20:15 tonight, had the first flight from Basel to Pristina and vice versa which  is of significant importance for the company and for the Pristina International Airport and Kosovo\'s citizens.

The flights of the company, which starts with four flights a week from Switzerland to Kosovo, namely the two flights from Basel and two other from Geneva marks Pristina International Airport into  the map of destinations of this giant company, simultaneously turning PIA into the only airport of the region where the company carries out flights.

EasyJet is a leader airline in Europe with cheapest prices.

Currently has a fleet of 182 aircraft engaged in 504 different destinations, present in 119 airports and 29 different countries  which one has carried over 46 million passengers last year.

“The beginning of flights by EasyJet represents some important moments. First moment is economic as well as political because we are dealing with a giant company that has already entered Kosovo and this fact represents a very good signal for other foreign investors who base their investments in different countries after the entry of large companies. Another moment is that PIA has proved meeting the safety and security requirements and the third or perhaps the most important moment is the creation of competition in order to discount tickets’ prices with the purpose of discounting these prices as much as possible for the citizens of Kosovo, \" : said Director Managing Director of Pristina International Airport, Agron Mustafa.

Tickets for this airline from Switzerland to Kosovo, or vice versa have been on sale for several months and according to officials of this company about 20 percent of tickets are sold at original price ranging from 39 CHF.
The low cost carriers as EasyJet only sell tickets online and as early as booked and paid they are much cheaper.

“This new routes offers us a great opportunity to finally offer affordable tickets to the Kosovar families living in Switzerland to visit their relatives. We also expect Kosovar residents to be able to come and visit Switzerland whether for leisure or for business. Response has been very strong with the available flights for the first months having been booked very quickly. Therefore we have decided as of winter to increase capacity from BSL and GVA from two weekly flights to three per week. We expect to carry around 20 000 passengers between start of operations and end of Summer season on 24th October 2010” said Marketing Manager of Easy Jet Peter Voets.
