Pristina, 7 Octobar - The Secretary of State in the Ministry for Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic and Commander Kosovo Force (COM KFOR), Major General Erhard Bühler met this afternoon in Leposaviq/Leposavic to inform each other about the present situation in the region south and north of the river Ibar.

Major General Bühler informed the Secretary of State about the ongoing joint KFOREULEX- Kosovo Police measures to increase the safe and secure environment south and north of the Ibar river.

The operations are an answer to the increased numbers of violent events during the last weeks when there were several explosions and use of firearms. The aim of the operations is to enable the people in the North Kosovo to have stable and calm conditions for their daily live.

Secretary of State Ivanovic agreed that it is important to reduce the numbers of violent incidents. But people in general should not be frightened by the way the operations are carried out. It should be clear that the security forces are fighting against criminality, troublemakers and the illegal possessions of weapons.

Major General Bühler agreed and assured once again that the operations will go on in favour of the peaceful population in the south and the north of the Ibar river. And there will be an ongoing flow of information and a transparent communication. There is no secret agenda. KFOR will pursue its tasks according to UNSR 1244.
