Admiral Ferguson in Kosovo to analyze the situation in the area

Prishtina, 26 june – KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, received U.S. Navy Admiral Mark E. Ferguson III, Commander JFC Naples, in his two-day official visit to KFOR. 

In Camp Film City, JFC Naples Commander met with Serbian representatives in Kosovo institutions (Mr. Stojanovic, Mr. Jevtic, and Mr. Maric). During the meeting several topics were discussed, among them the creation of the Association of the Serbian Municipalities and the Returnees process. General Figliuolo confirmed that KFOR “pays great attention to ensure the security to all the minorities living in Kosovo” and he also highlighted as the security and the stability in the North of Kosovo represents one of the main effort of KFOR.

In early Friday, Admiral Ferguson had a meeting with Kosovo Ministry of Interior, Skender Hiseny, and General Director of Kosovo Police, Mr. Shpend Maxhuni in which they discuss about the latest developments of the security situation in Kosovo; Admiral Ferguson then, accompanied by General Figliuolo, flew to Camp Bondsteel to hold a High Level Talk meeting with FYROM Chief of Defense, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski.

This meeting was mainly focused on the security situation across the border line between FYROM and Kosovo and the actions and measures that KFOR is enabling together with Kosovo Police to strengthen the security in this area. Before leaving to Naples JFC Commander and General Figliuolo had a last meeting with the Heads of Mission of UNMIK, EULEX, OSCE and with the EU deputy SR, about KFOR support to those Missions. 

The visit of JFC Naples Commander in Kosovo has been an opportunity to appreciate again the stabilizing role of KFOR in the Balkan area and to express to General Figliuolo his appreciation for the commitment performed by KFOR soldiers to ensure a safe and secure environment to all Kosovo people.
