Kosovo will not endanger its credibility and that of its friends

Prishtina, 2 july - First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with Thomas Yazdgerdi, Director of the Office of South Central Europe at the U.S. Department of State, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the establishment of the Special Court, the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and Kosovo\'s external consolidation.

Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi said that the friendship between Kosovo and the United States is unique and that the people of Kosovo are aware that they would not enjoy freedom and independence without the support of the United States of America.

Thaçi said that Kosovo is an example in the region for neighborly cooperation that has been achieved thanks to the hard but successful process of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

In regards to the Special Court, Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi said that Kosovo will not avoid its international responsibilities and obligations.

“Establishment of the Special Court is in Kosovo’s interest. Kosovo institutions will ensure that the credibility of the country and its friends are not endangered”, Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi.
